CUSTOM PACK TRIPS

Estimate: $105 per person per day.
We provide backcountry pack trips as an opportunity for you to experience the solitude of the Oregon High Desert. Trips are designed to fit your needs and schedule. Cost varies depending on number of days and group size.
Group sizes are small with a minimum of two participants and a maximum of eight. These are 'Backpacker Assist' style trips. You are expected to provide your own food and gear. We provide the llamas and expertise to travel on foot in the trailess desert. Each participant will be assigned a llama of his or her own for the duration. Participants are welcome to work with that animal as much as they choose, learning to saddle, load, handle and care for the animal.

Each trip is unique. In our desert environment, conditions vary tremendously from year to year. Because water is a critical need and its presence is highly variable, we respond by adjusting our trip itineraries. Each year we visit certain areas, but within those areas our routes change considerably. Listed at the top of this page are the areas we visit. Descriptions, images and sample itineraries provide you with a clear idea of what the area has to offer.
These trips are designed to take your interests and abilities into account. In consultation with you, we put our extensive knowledge of Oregon's Outback to work. We select an appropriate route. Whether it is wildflower explorations you love, wild horse viewing, photography, artistry or any other interest, we create an outing to suit. Along the way we will provide natural history and historical commentary as well as indulge you with llama stories to your heart's desire. As with all our outings, we are pleased to train you to handle the llamas and allow you as much access to them as you wish.

Travel Fee: $1 per mile
We also provide trips to areas of SE Oregon's desert including but not limited to the Trout Creek Mountains, Oregon Canyon Mountains, Mickey Basin and The Sheepshead Mountains. These trips require a minimum of eight weeks advance notice. A minimum of two participants is required.
OTHER SERVICES
Our training trips teach you the basics of traveling with llamas in the backcountry. We teach you the necessary llama handling techniques as well as teach outdoor safety and travel skills. These trips are designed to teach you how to work with and care for your pack llama in rough waterless country. We also provide drop camp services which consists of moving gear for you. According to your specifications, we haul your gear from one location to another. Cost for this service is $0.75 per mile with a 100 pound minimum. There is also a transportation cost of $1 per mile from our ranch to the your starting point for up to eight llamas.
We do not rent llamas.
